SMITHS FIRE Covid-19 Updates

February 2022

The Government has now introduced the ‘Living with Covid Plan’ which removes any remaining COVID-19 restrictions in England. The new plan shifts from Government ruling to encouraging personal responsibility.

From Thursday 24th February, the legal duty to self-isolate ended and testing positive or being in close contact with someone who has tested positive, no longer requires you to conduct any testing or to self-isolate.  However, people who test positive are still being advised to stay at home and avoid contact with others for at least five full days.

Whilst taking on board the ‘Living with Covid Plan’, Smiths Fire are also fully aware that in some of our client facilities, COVID regulations may still be in place and we would like to re-assure our customers that we will continue to follow any client site-specific rules until further notice.

Given the current COVID-19 situation we would like to this opportunity to keep you up to date with our operations.

Smiths Fire LLP, defined by the government as key workers, remains open and we are doing our upmost to keep businesses and people safe by being available to complete planned preventative maintenance, remedial visits and call outs.

Maintaining regular service inspections, even if the building is not currently occupied, is a British Standard requirement which ensures you and your staff remain safe and compliant under the Regulatory Reform fire safety Order (RRO) and potentially ensures your insurance policy requirements are met.

Please be assured that, on visiting your premises to carry out work of any nature, our engineers will be fully prepared with facemasks, gloves and hand sanitisers and will maintain the recommended distancing procedures. We have also instructed employees to take their temperature regularly and should they show symptoms of the coronavirus, not to come to work, to stay at home and follow the self-isolation procedures.
